Our church youngsters teamed-up with players from St. John’s Orthodox Church in Rockland to form a united softball team. Team is currently 3 wins to 0 losses for the year. Team currently holds top position in their division. Per players in the team, “Team unity is remarkable and a good example of how the youth in our church can unite and play well together. You can’t win alone, you can win as a team.” For team standing and schedule, click here Our Parish was blessed by the visit of The Catholicose Designate His Beatitude Paulose Mar Milithios Metropolitan on June 20th. Thirumeni celebrated divine Holy Qurbana for the faithfuls. There were many faithfuls present from sister parishes to receive blessing from the Thirumeni. Church hosted a public meeting in Thrumeni’s honor. Mr. Degan LaCorte, Honorable Mayor of Village of Suffern was distinguished guest present at the meeting. Mayor expressed his warm felicitations and presented Thirumeni with proclamation on behalf of the village council. The meeting concluded with closing prayers and benediction by Thirumeni. Parish hosted lunch for the Thirumeni and all participants after the meeting. The visit by Catholicate designate will be one of the most important events in our parish history. The smile and divine presence of the Thirumeni will be remembered by all for long time. The Catholicose Designate His Beatitude Paulose Mar Milithios Metropolitan will be visiting our church and celebrating Holy Qurbana on Sunday, June 20th, 2010. We thank God Almighty for blessing our Parish with this great honor and privilege. We welcome all the faithful to come and part-take with us in this Holy Qurbana and subsequent reception for the Thirumeni. Our parish eagerly awaits the blessed visit.
A colourful parish newsletter for month of March was published by the editors. Newsletter contains Holy week message by our Achen, transcript of speeches delivered by our youngsters during Lent Sundays, Parish News, Holy week pictures and more. Click here to read the newsletter.
Holy Qurbana was celebrated on Palm Sunday, Pesaha, Holy Saturday and on Easter. Special service was held on Good Friday followed by around the clock vigil. Evening prayers were conducted every day of the week.
